How to keep dry tea

Unlike fresh tea, to ensure the quality of dried tea, care should be taken to keep the tea away from air, heat, light and moisture, as these are factors that can degrade the quality of the tea, and tea quickly spoils or moulds.

Pack tea in glass, ceramic, or porcelain boxes

Tea is easy to absorb moisture and odour, so care must be taken to preserve tea to avoid oxidation, reducing the taste of tea.

The ideal material for storing tea is unscented glass, ceramic, porcelain, aluminium or tin jars. These pots should have tight lids to avoid much air contact with the tea. Using a jar with a rubber seal at the mouth is best to ensure it is airtight.

Note that tea should not be stored in plastic containers because it will have a plastic smell, affecting the taste and making it difficult to drink. Tea containers should be dark or opaque and airtight, preventing light or air from entering. After each use, close the lid tightly.

Store tea in a dark, cool and dry place

Light and moisture are considered the biggest enemies of dry tea. The best place to store tea is the kitchen cabinet. Kitchen cabinets often have little light, and the temperature is always stable, not changed by the weather.

In addition, it should be noted that tea should not be placed near the stove because moisture and heat will damage the tea. The refrigerator is also not the right place to store tea.

Do not mix flavoured dry tea with unflavored tea, which will contaminate each other’s odours.
