THE TEAPOT STORY

People worldwide have been drinking tea for centuries, but teapots only appeared about 500 years ago. So how did people drink tea before there was a teapot? “People drink tea in the form of a mixture of roasted leaves ground with other ingredients and dried into pellets that dissolve in a cup.” And how was the teapot born? Most experts agree that teapots date back to around 1500 AD, with the appearance of zisha teapots in China. Using the distinctive red clay and purple sand from the Yixing region in the eastern province of Jiangsu, potters created individual small teapots with the handle and spout design we know today.

Since the birth of the zisha teapot, it has become a national treasure and is associated with many legends in China. So the question arises, how was the teapot born in Vietnam then?

THE TEAPOT STORY

Going back in time, returning to the first migration of the dead ancestors, the martyrs gave birth to the village to remember what had been with this miraculous river: The blessing of the king, the excellent children of Bo Bat village, a village specializing in ceramics [belongs to Ninh Binh – the ancient capital of Hoa Lu] went along the Red River and saw 72 dunes of heaven and earth – white clay, a precious soil that makes pottery and produces products unique products. The elders stayed and established Bach Tho ward [a ward making pottery from that kind of white soil]. Over time, with talent and extraordinary efforts, this land has created generations of talented heroes. , famous Vietnamese land and became the land of Bat Trang, recorded in history books to this day.

Over time, many people believe that the magic dune is no longer available, and the children of the craft village have to find and exploit land everywhere. But few people know this fact: even if it is 72 dunes or thousands of times more than that number, it is impossible to exploit it forever, so the village elders remind their children and grandchildren: that the number of statues symbolizes spirituality and has the meaning of permanence, sustainability, forever, not a countable number to sit there and enjoy gradually. One day, the next generation will have to find and decode for eternity with their hearts and minds.

One day, the potter Pham The Anh, born in a family of 4 generations of pottery making and one of the 15th generation of the Pham family – one of the 23 families in Bat Trang was named. It took 11 years since 1993, he learned from the lump of earth, worked hard at the turntable, soaked his hands in a pool of the mixed world, smeared from head to toe, damaged and redone many times, learning each lesson to become a skilled potter.

During his visits to China to visit and hear about Tu Sa land with many legendary stories, Pham The Anh thought of the ancient pottery village’s fathers taking alluvial soil from the Red River to create the ceramic glaze. Coating the product, he began to make a bold decision: why can your country make Tu Sa pottery from a particular type of soil called purple sand, but we cannot make ceramic from clay? Sa Red River.

And then, he began to implement his idea. With the initial tests collapsing, subsequent tests were unsuccessful because 100% silt did not produce accumulation. And after much effort, tinkering and research, artisan Pham The Anh has found the formula for a new type of ceramic. This type of pottery is used 80% of Red River alluvium and 20% white clay and kaolin mixed to create a homogeneous mass. After successfully making this ceramic line, because he was not confident enough, he had to test it many times later and let difficult partners try it to come to the same conclusion: the Red River alluvium did such miracles. To mark his invention, artist Pham The Anh named this ceramic Hong Sa pottery – a combination of the mother’s river’s name and the sweet great-grandchildren from the Red River alluvium dedicated to the family. Brother, for the ancient village of Bat Trang and the country of Vietnam.

An outstanding feature of the Hong Sa teapot is its ability to absorb the aroma and flavour of tea, making the tea taste better and rounder. The unique quality of Hong Sa teapot tea flavour comes from trace mineral ingredients. This god is contained in the alluvial material of the Red River, which is released into the tea water due to the unglazed surface of the teapot, making the tea taste softer when enjoyed.
